Yorkie Rescue

Currently our rescue efforts revolve around Lilo and Stitch and Koda Please visit their pages to read their stories.

Occasionally, we have the opportunity to place rescue yorkies in loving homes. These are the Yorkies that we have that are looking for special forever homes.

These Yorkies generally have no papers, but are pure-bred. Some of them have special needs, some have been neglected, and all of them are looking for families to love and care for them.

The Yorkie in our "logo" picture is Rose, a little baby girl that from birth had noticeable problems. By the time she was 8 weeks old we knew she had an open fontanel, but after an ultrasound with a veterinary neurologist at the University of Missouri - Columbia Veterinary Teaching Hospital we discovered that she also had hydrocephalus, and only 10 % of her brain tissue - 90% of the interior of her skull was fluid. For her situation, there was no treatment, no options, no hope. It was one of the most heartbreaking things to go through, but out of that came a greater determination to help Yorkies that can have hope, that do have a chance at a wonderful life! That's what we are here for, to facilitate that life - to create possibilities!

Yorkies of Walnut Hill is not a National Rescue Organization. We just love Yorkies and we do not ever want to see a Yorkie go unloved. We started our Rescue page because we continually seem to have the opportunity to rescue Yorkies, and we want to do our part in our little corner of the world.
